Lynx monitoring in southern Rhineland-Palatinate
In 1999 the “Zentralstelle der Forstverwaltung“ established a long-term monitoring system in Rhineland-Palatinate in order to gather and assess information about the occurrence and distribution of the Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx) in the Palatinate Forest and surroundings. The monitoring results are an important base for the conservation of the endangered species in the region.
Monitoring in the Palatinate Forest is conducted within nine monitoring compartments. In each compartment, hints are gathered and verified by specifically trained persons:

Lynx experts:
1 = Werner Grill: 06329-398, 0175-2927690
2 = Hans-Klaus Becker: 06321-82125
3 = Ditmar Huckschlag: 06306-911-199
4 = Martin Teuber: 06305-993910, 0175-1908164
5 = Franz Zwick: 06397-993728, 0152-28852005
6 = Karlheinz Bosch: 06346-302905, 0175-4111216

The Research Institute for Forest Ecology and Forestry of Rhineland-Palatinate (FAWF) is in charge of data processing and the scientific evaluation of the monitoring data. There is a lynx-hotline (+496306-911199) for lynx reports where you can leave a message. A lynx expert will call you back as soon as possible.
The monitoring tool being applied in this project was developed by the Institute for Landscape Management of the University of Freiburg, Germany. Adoption and implementation of the tool was carried out in cooperation with the FAWF.
Please note: data for the nature reserve Vosges du Nord are available untill 2008 (C4 excluded; type of indication not mentioned ["Sonstige"]). |
